Every day we can find inspiration around us. A story of how someone's determination has led to their life becoming better. Even though the celebrity stories can be fun and get a lot of publicity, whenever I read how a normal everyday person has accomplished great things in their life, it really makes my day.
To summarise, the article is about a New Orleans woman who has lost over 200 pounds in weight and taken on a job as a fitness instructor. She originally weighed well over 350 pounds and had 3 children. One day her eldest child ran away from her while they were on a shopping trip and due to her size she couldn't give chase. Her fitness level was so low that even a brief run after her child was too much for her. The child ran straight out into the path of a car and narrowly missed being run over. For Tanee Janusz, it was the wake-up call that would change her life. She felt that due to her weight she couldn't do the most basic thing a mother could do, protect her family.
What followed was 2 years of slow progress as she didn't have the confidence to go out and exercise, she made do with cheap home gym equipment, not a big gym membership. She followed a sensible eating plan and carried on with the exercise until her present achievements of regular exercise and instructing others to exercise.
Sorry for the ad before the programme, but hope you enjoy the clip. The clip also has some info on training with obesity. If you look at the footage though you may also notice how much further she would get (and her clients) if they took the intensity up a bit more. Oh, and you don't have to just eat tomatoes and lettuce to get your weight down. Well done to Tanee, I wish you many long years of fitness and exercise.
Stay Healthy!
