Five fat peas in a pod.

In the UK, children as young as 6 are now being treated for stroke and other health problems associated with being obese.

Babies and children as young as 6 are now being treated in hospital for obesity problems which health experts are blaming squarely on the parents. By the time they leave Primary school 1 in 3 children is classified as clinically obese.

Paul Sacher, of the British Dietetic Association and chief research officer for MEND, a charity that runs obesity treatment and prevention programmes, said many parents simply did not know what they should be feeding their children.

Dr Ken Ong, clinical lead for childhood obesity at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, said:'The popular hope is that it is just baby fat and they will grow out of it, but our studies show that it is more likely to continue being obese and even become more obese.'

If you are having a similar problem with knowing what to feed your children, a good guideline could be fresh fruit and vegetables, maybe puréed if the child is not old enough to chew properly.
