So it feels like its been raining for about 2 months solidly now. The main thing I have noticed is the way its getting to people. A lot of people are finding excuses not to train or to keep a good diet. Things like 'The weather makes them eat junk food' or 'It's so cold I don't feel like exercising'.
This is the time we need to dig deep guys. Because the weather is awful, if you need to eat more food, do so, but GOOD food. Eat more fruit and veg, more dairy products, nuts and seeds. These foods have been shown to raise moods in some studies and the even better news is that you won't get the guilt trip afterwards either.
Exercise will warm up your body and also produce mood enhancing chemical release in the body, so that kind of kills that excuse. It can also keep the body more elevated in temperature for longer than your average couch potato will wrapped in a little security blanket or duvet. If you really want to watch Eastenders (or insert similar soap opera of choice) or the football then ask your gym to put it on the TV set at the gym, try jogging during the whole programme. If you're watching the footie, try to jog half the game and cycle the other half. You will still be able to chat about the match or show with your friends later and you'll be burning calories not putting them on with drink after drink of empty calories.
If you don't wish to join a gym, then simply train at home. You can always get in touch with us via the main website or at seb@kaizenfitness.org.uk and we can give you countless ideas for exercises to do in your living room!
Keep training hard guys!
