How many times have you got to work feeling full awake, alert and happy to be there?
For most people it is normally pretty hard to be motivated and full of beans first thing in the morning. I know, I have been there myself and found it a slog sometimes day after day. Normally this has been when I have been out of training.
One thing you could try to do is get up a little earlier. Maybe try 1 hour earlier to bed, then you might get up an hour earlier.
Some of my clients then spend about 20 - 30 mins on a few sets of squats, pressups and situps. As well as getting the blood pumping around the body, it can really wake the mind up also.
Then take time over your breakfast (you still have another 20 - 30 mins free) contemplate the day ahead.
Exercise throughout the day can also keep your levels of attention and focus up also, so try to either set aside some regular yoga or pilates exercises, go for a jog or do some weights if you prefer. One thing that can cause a sleepy mind is sitting down all day, then sitting on the tube to go home, then sitting in front of the computer/tv when you get home. All these things are fine, but to stay more alert you need to use your body. As they say you have to use it or lose it!
